These buckram frames are perfect for new milliners not having blocks and wishing to learn the covering portion of hatmaking. All frames are hand-blocked using white buckram, and you may chose various crowns and brims to create truly unique fashions. The one piece piece buckram crowns may be purchased with pre-blocked black or white linings for an additional fee of $5.00 each.
For those unfamiliar with buckram, it is a woven cotton fiber that has been stiffened,and can be molded into various shapes. It is used in costumes and numerous other products. In this particuliar case we use wooden hat block, buckram and other supplies to create hat shapes.
Buckram can be covered with almost any type of pliable fabric, needless to say can be coordinated to match wearing apparel. By the way, many of the older vintage hats made using buckram are more than 50 years old. The hats on the covered hat page will give you some ideas of what you can do with these shapes. You may also special order buckram frames from my wooden hat block page for a fee of $25.00 per block (no more than 2 of the same per customer) .
