These items are included in the registration fee of $175.00 for the covering workshops:
Three (3) hat frames that will consist of the following:
1. One bubble
2. One pillbox
3. One 2-piece crown and brim
4. Linings for three buckram frames (black or white)
a. (1) lining for bubble (oversized round crown)
b. (1) lining for pill box ( a crown (top of the hat) that is somewhat flat on top
c. (1) lining for the inside of the crown)
5. Matching grosgrain for lining (black or white)
Students may e-mail me pictures of three (3) different hats they wish to cover, and I will make buckram hat frames as close as possible to the styles they choose. They may also go to page on this site and choose 3 hat styles. I will duplicate the hat frames.
Beginner Hat Making Attendees are required to bring these items on the first day of the covering workshop:
1. Three (3) yards of fabric
a. one yard of fabric for a pill box crown
b. one yard of fabric for a bubble crown
c. one yard of fabric for a two piece crown and brim
2.matching thread for each hat
3. Decorations(trim) such as flowers, horse hair,or other decorations.
Blocking "Men Make Hats Too" weekend workshop includes the following supplies in the registration fee Of $350.00
1. One felt hat body (choices limited to basic colors)
2. One straw-hat body (choices limited to basic colors)
3. Millinery wire (enough to wire 2 hats)
4. Grosgrain (for inside sweatband)
5. Sizing
6. Wire joiners
7. Outer head size decorative band
8. I will supply all additional supplies necessary for blocking.
Frame Making 1-day weekend workshop includes the following supplies in the registration fee Of $175.00
1. 2 yards of 58-60" wide white buckram enough to make about 5 hats depending on the frames and crowns used
2. Heavy Millinery wire (enough to wire 3 hat brims
3. Light Millinery wire ( enough to wire 3 hat crowns
4. Push pins
4. Crinolin about 5 yards
5. hammers
6. Wire joiners
7. tieing cords
8. any additional supplies necessary to block buckram frames
